The Douglass Building
Frederick Douglass Memorial Hall is one of the most iconic and historically significant buildings on Howard’s campus. Named after the famous abolitionist and civil rights leader Frederick Douglass, the hall has long been a central hub for academic and administrative activities, particularly for the College of Arts and Sciences.
Douglass Hall was recently renovated (2021) as a part of the University's broader effort to revitalize the campus. Renovations included upgrades to the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, as well as improvements to the classroom environment. The updates to Douglass Hall reflect Howard’s commitment to honoring its past while preparing for the future. By investing in the renovation of this historic building, the university is ensuring that Douglass Hall remains a cornerstone of its academic landscape for generations to come.
