Investing in a Long Tradition of Business Leadership

Business and management instruction at Howard began in 1870, and the present-day School of Business was founded in 1970. Its undergraduate program became the first in Washington, D.C., to receive AACSB accreditation in 1976, followed by the MBA program in 1980. The current six-story School of Business building was dedicated on September 28, 1984, giving the growing school a permanent home at the northwest edge of campus.

A Renewed Academic Environment

The School of Business lobby was renewed in an earlier completed phase. The current project concentrates on the building's second floor, renewing space that supports the School's academic community and the movement of students, faculty, staff, and guests through one of its most active levels. Construction and demolition are underway as the phase moves toward completion.

The renewed floor will strengthen the setting in which the School teaches, convenes, and supports the next generation of business leaders. Additional projects elsewhere in the building are being planned separately and will be described publicly as their scopes and schedules are confirmed.
